So you’re an only child, huh?

Yup. That’s correct.

No brothers? No sisters?

Nope. Just me and my folks.

Is it true what they say? Are you only children a coddled, spoiled, lonely, egocentric bunch of oddballs? Or does the stereotype ring hollow? For what it’s worth, you seem like a decent enough guy to me.

Thanks. (smiles) I appreciate the vote of confidence. You know, it’s hard to say. I’m sure there’s an only child out there who fits the projection to a T - or at least appears to. As for myself...yeah, I suppose...shades of it anyway. But the traits you mentioned don’t strike me as especially unique to the only child character type, if there is such a thing. What were they, again? Coddled, lonely, spoiled...

Egocentric and weird.

Right. Now, by your estimation, do these traits at all describe you or one of your siblings?

Well, I guess it depends on who you ask. I’ve certainly got my moments.

Likewise. And that’s what I’m saying.

Point taken. So, is this site of yours a concerted effort to present perhaps a more even take on the only child?

No, not particularly. It’s simply an effort to present myself. That’s it, really.

Any overarching purpose or mission?

I might pick one up along the way. We’ll see.

Fair enough. I’ll keep an eye out.

You and me, both.

Wow. You actually threw a party to celebrate the Dreamcast’s tenth anniversary. That’s so...

Amazing. I know. My wife’s doing, actually - it was a complete surprise. She’s totally awesome.

Then she’s a big gamer too, no doubt.

Not at all. She likes World of Goo and Professor Layton but that’s about it.

Yet she encourages your fixation on videogaming by hosting an ode to a console that’s now ten years old.

Ten years young. Yup. Like I said, she’s totally awesome.

I guess so. May we all find spouses so, um, accommodating.

And so truly loving. Best wishes.
